I have measured the distance between Five Roads and Reddipatty - Steel Plant Road junction via Kuranguchavadi and Junction seperately.

The distance via Junction is 3.4km, and the distance via Kuranguchavadi (NH-7) is 3.2 km only.

In all probability, the travel time will definitely be less if travelled via Kuranguchavadi, in addition to this being the shortest route.

City police and the corporation can encourage people to use this route to save time and fuel. This will definitely decongest the busy Junction Road.

yes vijayan,
i remember, but its always the media, where a particular reporter will write his own opinion and colour the issue in different dimension.

Anyways, demolishing and widening the road can be a good solution. SALEM JUNCTION is the Gateway for the city, the moment an outsider who come out of junction, by looking at the narrow streets, wont get a good opinion on the city. Something has to be done.

Manakkadu-Kannankurichi road widening and re-laying of road work is in completed stage, thanks to the election. For the past 6 months the works went on slowly, but for the recent 10 days timing the works kick off and they havae completed the widening work (only 5 feet on one side only) and now road laying work going on day & night and will be completed before this week end.

The telephone/EB authorities not happy by digging one side of Sarada college road from Hastampatti to 5 Roads and started digging on the otherside also even before closing one side completely. The newly laid road now damaged on both the sides. What a plan!!. They find it difficult to dig the road even using electonic devices shows that the road laid with good condition last time now lost its pride.

Jagee, They all are feasible and will definitely become hit.
But someone needs to wake up the TNSTC-SLM Managing director and other operating authorities to see the needs of today.
I have not seen any new routes introduced in the past several years.
Only handful number of services exist like, Old BS - Junction, Old BS - Adivaaram, Old BS - Rasipuram, Old BS - Tharamangalam, Old BS - Omalur.
The authorities should be innovative to explore more routes thus benefitting the public. They cannot expect people to always transit through the old bus stand for all their transportation needs.
Full fledged bus stands are needed at Junction, Adivaaram, Ayodhiyapattinam and Seelanaickenpatti. All these bus stands should have frequent services between each other in more than one possible route. This will decrease the number of share autos which are really dangerous as they never follow rules, and dump people in them. Increased public transportation utilization will do wonders in decongesting city roads.

Even some 8 years back I have insisted this multiple BS option and wrote in Hindu Readers Mail and Dinamani's Aaraichi Mani but of no use. At one occasion I had talk with the authorities and they said due to traffic congestion at Omalur Road more City buses to New BS was not feasible told at that time. After 7 years I am back to Salem and again sent the message to Hindu for Readers mail and waiting for publish.

My proposal is to divert all mofussil buses from New BS towards ARRS multiplex-Byepass (i.e buses now plying in Omalur Road towards Attur/Yercaud/Mettur/Bangalore side will use only bye-pass and leave Omalur Road only for city buses.

Then to shift the City BS terminus to New BS where in enough space available. But to keep the old BS intact by operating one third of services presently operating in it and rename the old BS as Kottai Mariamman Koil BS. Automatically all areas will get connectivity with new BS which is obsolute necessary.

Even though shifting New BS is less space compared to Old BS, hence some short distance buses can be dragged upto Jn via new BS so that nee BS can handle pass on busses and also other parts get Jn connectivity also.

Besides this some important buses needed are

1) Adivaram - Ammapet Colony via Hastampatti-Manakkadu-Johnsonpet-Anaimedu-Ponnamapet Gate-Jothi theatre-Colony.

2) Adivaram - Jn via Hastampatti-5 Roads

3) Adivaram - New BS via Hastampatti-5 Roads

4) Kannankurichi - Jn via Hastampatti, 5 Roads

5) Kannankurichi - Seelanaickenpatti via ITI, Hastampatti, Salem Town RS, Mariamman Koil BS, Gugai, Dadagapatti.

6) Kannankurichi- Ayothiapattinam via Hastampatti, Salem Town RS, Ammapet

7) Adivaram - Gugai via Hastampatti, Salem Town RS, Anandha (Hope the bride will open soon) Pattaikoil Koil through Kumaran Street in Singametthai to Narayana Nagar, Kailash-Prakash Theaters, Gugai.

8) Steel Plant - Ammapet via Jn, 5 Roads, Hastampatti, Arts College, Maravaneri, Ponnamapet.

9) Ammapet - Gugai via Siddeswara, Narayana Nagar, 3 Theaters, Gurai

10) Chinnathirupathi - New BS via Narasus factory, Maraveneri-Anna Park-4 Roads- New BS.

Circular Buses on both the routes

1) Kottai Mariamman BS - Hastampatti - 5 Roads - 4 Roads - KM BS

2) Hastampatti-Maraveneri-Anaimedu-Pattaikoil-MK BS -4 Roads-RK Road-Hastampatti

3) Gugai-Seelanaikenpatti Byepass-New BS- KM BS - Gugai

etc..

Dear Kannan sir,

They all are very valid and feasible services. The authorities at the TNSTC Salem division need to think about this and implement.

But unfortunately all these have been dreams, but let us try to make our effort to get these into the authorities and see if we can make these services reality.

The major problem is no political party or the public demand such services. They seem to be contended with what they have now and just keep their machine life going with the existing services.

Even the attempt of Mr. Saravanan to voice for new services costed him Rs. 25,000/- to write his article on Dinakaran. What a shame on our local media!!!! So, I don't think we can think of writing it on any newspaper, for which we do not have the support of the media. But it would be feasible if we are a registered entity and hold any official meet with the TNSTC authorities.

This suggestion could be long term solution in the 90 degree curve in our junction

Elevated road on junction and old suramangalam till steel plan road and the existing road between police station and junction will be made 6lanes!!

This will cost more for bridge, but less damage to public except the one b.w Police station and Junction.

And very long term solution.

We are in poor city to get such flyovers!

Hastampatti-Manakkadu road widening is is progress. The work progressing in rapid speed. Road side digged into 2-3 feet and filling with crushed jallies. Within next 10 days all the works will be finished.

Trumpet Interchange work also progressing very fast manner. All 24 hours men worked here by using huge lightings in nights and some times the lights were on during day time also. Only few connecting work is pending. We can expect this to open next month.

Also the ROB near Neikkarappatti i.e. the other end of trumpet IC is progressing very fastly.

Ananda Paalam work is also comes to final stage. Out of the 5 segment works, 3 finished and remaining 2 the concret work will finish within fortnight and the entire work will finish before May'10. After this the connecting road, PF and other works will be finished before July and the bridge set open during August'10. We can expect this opening along with Superspecaility Hosp & Collectorate building on 20th Aug'10.
