I came across this info. today on net! There is a road named "Longly Road" in Shevapet from Pal Market to Shevapet Mariamman temple Car.

Look this name has come from the Salem's 44th collector "Longly" who administrated the dt for 11 years! (10-10-1870 to 16-6-1881)

There is another road in Shevapet named as Police Patrol road, I wonder people there use to write on the name boards as Police "Petrol" road... Have to find out how come that road got that name!

I found Cherry road has got the name from Mr.J.W.Cherry, who was the collector of Salem during the year 1859.

BRETT Road from Mr.H.A.BRETT, collector of salem from 1853-1862(9 yrs)

This should be very interesting topic to the world. Logesh, just remembered you have collected some info on the origin of the name Salem which supposed to come on About Salem page. We need to to prepare that and put that in About page and here as well.

When we find time when should go to Salem museum and collect the info they have about the city. Nothing is online now!
