Elevated trichy main road,
the road will be elevated from Seelanaikenpatti by-pass till old bus stand. All the town buses will use the elevated road.

i heard this from a ex.councillor. he said this proposal is waiting for funds, all the project survey is completed and reports have been sent to state government.

let us see how far this project is true and successful.

If it is so then good. But it is very difficult to construct in this busy and narrow stretch. Diverting the traffic to other route is also hectic task. If started it will take surely 2+ yrs to complete and the people will suffer a lot.

I also heard that elevated stretch will take place from Omalur Road -TVS till 5 Roads as a part of 5 road ROB project. Due to 5 Road ROB the Reliance Mall project (at Dwaraka premises) not getting approval from Salem City corporation.

From what I heard from an auto driver at Salem, there are plans in place to widen the Trichy Road for the past 20 years which requires several buildings on either sides of the road to be demolished. But there are many cases filed against the demolision and it delays the project.
One of the action items on the 'Vision Salem 2010' proposed by the Salem Corporation has an action item to lay a parallel road to Trichy Road to handle one direction of the traffice, and making the current alignment one-way. 2009 has almost gone, and god only knows what the corporation is doing about the 'Vision Salem 2010'.

There should definitely be something done to see smooth and fast movement of vehicles, and elevated highway would be a definitive solution considering a long term vision.

Proper entry/exit ramps at Dadagapatti, Sanjeevirayanpet, Prabhat, Gugai, Javulikadai have to be provided. Proper Bus bays have to be provided on the elevated road at respective stops, in order to ensure the flow of traffic is smooth.

The road below the elevated corridor should act as service road for local traffic.

I have also fantasized such a system from Five Roads (or Kuranguchavadi) to Anna Park with entry/exits at Swarnapuri, Central BS, TVS, and Four Roads.

Though it is a good news about elevated roads, I don't see our city needs these elevated roads as of now.

First corporation has to concentrate on

1. Flyovers at Mulvadi gate, Leigh Bazaar, Cuddalore main road (near Bala bharathi school), Ponamapettai level crossings

2. Flyover at 5 roads, AVR Circle, Thiruvagavandanoor bye-pass, Kanthampati bye-pass, Kuranguchavadi bye-pass with NHAI

3. Alternate road for Trichy main road and making Trichy road as one way.

4. Ring road from Kuranchavadi to Udayapati via Nagaramalai, Kannankurichi.

5. Subway at 5 roads, 4 roads and Central BS

6. Walkways on arterial roads like Junction main road, Sarada college road, Suramangalam road, Cherry road and Yercaud road.

After we get these basic needs for our city road infrastructure then officials can plan for elevated roads.

Looks road widening will start after Jan '10. As the fund is approved.

Sad news for the property holder in trichy main road..,

1. Govt. may pay the govt value of the land to owner. (not market value)
2. will the land value increase after the widening.

Extending Tiruchi Main Road is a dream project. It cant be extended in my point of view...
