It is a leading computer shop near the Salem new bus stand which seems to be a bad option to buy computer peripherals. I was in need ADSL modem urgently. A friend of mine referred a guy who had business relationship with the shop to buy and sell the peripherals. He told he could get me the stuff at good price though I never minded the price at that situation. Next day on May 16, I went there and bought a Dlink ADSL Modem from them. (That guy was waiting for me. I did not meet him before).

The sales guy took the adsl pack from the peripherals show case. I saw that the seal in the pack was open already.(Why did they beak the seal of branded things ??? ) Also I noticed the manufactured date was more than one year ago. (One year was it without sale!!!). I questioned them. They told the driver cd will be replaced inside the pack in certain period of time and that is the reason to break the seal. “Do not worry about the seal and manufactured date. We give this modem at good price for you; also it has one year replacement warranty”.

As I was in rush and also had a good will on them I just took it with me though I was not compromised with their explanation. On that night, when I was free to install the modem, I opened the pack and was shocked at once. I saw that the modem had slight scratches on its surface. The warranty void seal was already broken and a sticker was placed above it. Suddenly I checked the serial number in the bill and with the one in the modem. Fortunately, both mismatched. So I clearly understood the unethical business strategy of them finally. They have sold a refurbished modem and given wrong serial number in the bill. So that we cannot claim for warranty when we detect a problem with the peripherals...


Next day I went to their shop again to claim for this. The guy in the billing department had ready made answers for me and he was cool. I explained the things. He said if you do not believe us kindly return the modem and get the money back. He did not pave way for arguments. I said to replace this with new modem and no need of money. But he did not do. (May be all are refurbished or cannot give new one for this price – Ha Haa Haaa). Finally got my money back with out any hassles.

If this is the situation for IT people like me then what would be for normal customers.. Be aware of that… Seems many are being cheated. Have you met any similar problems like this? Also your comments on this post also welcome and open for discussion.

Praveen., you are too late . I know this 3 years back and experienced the same. They sell only junk and refurbished products. As they provide the hardware for low price comparing to any other shop in salem, people
get cheated very well and fall on their tricks.
Also, they have been raided and seized of abt ~ 10Lacs hardware. This was not published in any paper or media as they settled this matter by paying good amount.

Guys according to me "GV Electronics" & "Anitha" are better for buyin computer peripherals..
These two shops r really good...
