Arul and I saw an article in Tamil Murasu e-paper couple of weeks back, which mentioned that the shooting of the movie 'Gowravargal' starring Sathyaraj, will complete be shot in the city for two months.
Even though its not done by a huge banner, lets hope it reaches out very well and covers the major parts of the city.

In old days, most of the shooting were in-door.. we need to see lots of out-door shootings in the city and the region....

Yes logesh, that is one of the dream. Salem is always much interested in modern day arts like Cinema right from 1900's. Our glory days lost when the entire cine industry went to Chennai and almost for 40years I think there was nothing related to movie industry in Salem.

But as usual city has boosting Cinema theaters right from then. Alankar was the first Air Cooled theater in TN outside Chennai, like this lot of facts are there.

CTN, Polimer could bring a small revolution in small screen for Salem region, Polimer could develop well and launch the satellite TV. Good progress and lot of small screen actors/hosts are related to Salem region.

After a long time, Kurivi/Aegan could do film shooting here in Salem/Yercaud. Now small movie players started to take few movies with base at Salem, it is a good opportunity for the city.

PS: I have edited the title as Movie Shooting.

^Polimer tv , mega tv two satellite channels from salem people.

Sangeeth was the first theater to have 6track DTS after Chennai's Satyam in mid 90's.

First colour movie of tamil cinema "Alibaba and 40 thirudargal" was from Salem's Modern Theaters.

So we have lot of pride.
Vijayan, most of the outdoor sequence was shot in Foothills of yercaud eg; the above said alibaba movie, rosapoo ravikaikari etc.., but still as u said no movies were shot in Salem urban areas.

I guess one film of Vijayakanth's, i guess RAJJYAM was shot in 5roads, just a flashing scene in a song.

Yes Logesh.. Vaaraai Nee Vaarai Song in the movie 'Manthiri Kumari' (?) was shot in Lady's seat. alsoseveral shootings were at the Yercaud Lake. Bhagyaraj's Pavunu pavunu thaan was completely shot in Poolampatti in the district.

I have dreams of seeing driving/chasing sequences along the Omalur Road, by-pass road, and the NH's branching out of the city. There are also lot of scenic locations on the Harur Road on the foot hills of Shevaroy ranges, especially near Manjavadi pass.

Dear Friends small correction-

Sangam Paradise is the first Air Cool theatre in the Salem region.

Alangar is the first theatre out side Chennai which was installed with 6 tracks Digital Track Sound System during the release of “Karuppu Roja” movie. And this movie is the first movie in Indian film industry came with 6 track DTS sound effect.

Sangeeth is the first theatre in region facilitated with Dolphie Digital Sound System in early 90’s

Yes logesh, It was in the year 2002 my +2 Public examination. The shooting was on the day of Maths public examination.

The road from present VSA complex to 5 roads was closed in the morning peak hour time, and I was heading to Ramakrishna school near Junction with my friend to attend the exam from 4 roads. We took the route via present ARRS Multiplex, 3 roads to reach the examination center. We were in time for exam, but few of the students were held up in the traffic and they were in delay to exam center from 15-30min. Anyway examiner gave another 30min for those affected students.

One of the leelaigal by our gvt admin and film producers/actors.

 Ha haa haa. Stupid authorities. They did not care about public before they gave permission for the shoot. Delay on public exams coz of a film shoot is really ashame, is not it?

Well, thats not something unusual. Even in todays newspaper I read a news about the shooting of Rajini's Enthiran on Kathipara fly-over that affected the traffic on the busy area for more than 6 hours.

But what is missing here is a formal advanced announcement of such things, so that the public can plan alternative ways. The traffic snarl on Kathipara ended up in some people missing their flights.
